Mass of Feastday

Entrance Antiphon

Let us rejoice and shout for joy, because the Lord of all things has favoured this holy and glorious virgin with his love.

Opening Prayer

God of mercy, joy of the saints,
you set the young heart
of St Teresa (of Jesus of Los Andes) ablaze
with the fire of verginal love for Christ and for his Church;
and even in suffering made her a cheerful witness to charity.
Through her intercession,
fill us with the delights of your Spirit,
so that we may proclaim by word and deed
the joyful message of your love to the world.

First Reading

A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Philippians 4:4-9

I want you to be happy, always happy in the Lord; I repeat, what I want is your happiness.  Let your tolerance be evident to everyone: the Lord is very near.  There is no need to worry; but if there is anything you need, pray for it, asking God for it with prayer and thanksgiving, and that peace of God, which is so much greater than we can understand, will guard your hearts and your thoughts, in Christ Jesus.  Finally, brothers, fill your minds with everything that is true, everything that is noble, everything that is good and pure, everything that we love and honour, and everything that can be thought virtuous and worthy of praise.  Keep doing all the things that you learned from me and have been taught by me and have heard and seen that I do.  Then the God of peace will be with you.

This is the word of the Lord.

Responsorial Psalm Ps 33:2-11

R/.Taste and see that the Lord is good.

I will bless the Lord at all times,
his praise always on my lips;
in the Lord my soul shall make its boast.
The humble shall hear and be glad. R/.

Glorify the Lord with me.
Together let us praise his name.
I sought the Lord and he answered me;
from all my terrors he set me free. R/.

Look towards him and be radiant;
let your faces not be abashed.
This poor man calle; the Lord heard him
and rescued him from all his disstress.  R/.

The angel of the lord is encamped
around those who revere him, to rescue them.
Taste and see that the Lord is good.
He is happy who seeks refuge in him.  R/.

Revere the Lord, you his saints.
They lack nothing, those who revere him.
Strong lions suffer want and go hungry
but those who fear the Lord lack no blessing. R/.

Gospel Acclamation

Alleluia, Alleluia!
I have told you this, says the Lord,
so that my own joy may be in you
and your joy be complete.
Alleluia!

Gospel

A reading from the Gospel according to John 15:5, 8-17

Jesus said to his disciples:
'I am the vine,
you are the branches.
Whoever remains in me, with me in him,
bears fruit n pleaty;
for cut off from me you can do nothing.
It is to the glory of my Father that you should bear much fruit, and then you will be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so I ahve loved you.
Remina in my love.
If you keep my commandments
you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father's commandments
and remain in his love.
I have told you this so that my own joy may be in you
and your joy may be complete.
This is my commandment:
love one another,
as I have loved you.
A man can have no greater love
than to lay down his life for his friends.
You are my friends,
if you do what I command you.
I shall not call you servants any more,
because a servant does not know
his master's businesss;
I call you friendsbecause I have made know to you
everything I have learnt from my Father.
You di not choose me, no, I chose you;
to go out and to bear fruit,
fruit that will last;
and then the Father will give you anything you ask him in my name.
What I command you
is to love one another.'

This is the Gospel of the Lord.
