29th January - Blessed Archangela Girlani - Virgin

OC: Optional Memory

Born in the town of Trino in northern Italy about the middle of the fifteenth century, Archangela took the Carmelite habit in Parma and eventually became prioress there. She held the same office in the new monastery of Mantua, where she died in 1495. She had a special devotion to the Holy Trinity.

Entrance Antiphon - Ps 45:15b-16
She is led to the king with her virgin companions. They are escorted with gladness and joy; they enter the palace of the king.

Opening Prayer
Father in heaven, you gave the virgin Blessed Archangela Girlani particular dedication to the mystery of the eternal Trinity. Through her prayers may we taste the delights of your glory already here on earth, and look upon you for ever in heaven. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Readings may be taken from the Common of Virgins

Communion Antiphon - Rev 21:3a-c
I heard a loud voice speaking from the throne: Here God lives among men, and he shall dwell with them.

Prayer after Communion
Lord God, may this eucharist renew our courage and strength. May we remain close to you, like Blessed Archangela Girlani, by accepting in our lives a share in the suffering of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you for ever and ever.
